Overcoming decision paralysis—A digital twin for decision making in energy system design

The design of efficient energy systems, through the development new technologies and improvement current ones, requires use rigorous process synthesis methods for generating analysing alternatives. We introduce a digital twin system that interactively translates needs preferences decision makers into an optimization-based model generates meaningful solutions. Interactive Digital Twin (InDiT) assists in steering exploration solution space guiding them towards relevant decisions, taking account multiple aspects such as impact uncertainties multi-criteria analysis. InDiT enhances step-by-step communication with maker, relying on visual aids to keep during generation intuitive flexible. In this way, are guided solutions improve their understanding relations between problem definition while builds makers’ can, after training, suggest best-suited interests. novelty work lies holistic approach addressing both (i) systematic assistance consultant, which maker’s machine language vice versa, (ii) interactive technique filtering evaluating intuitively. This guarantees maker does not only get based specifications made, but personal taken step, can easily be explored under different criteria. proposed methodology is demonstrated applied case integrated multi-product biorefinery. • A supporting making design.
